Adopting from Jasper’s Animal Rescue? Firstly, THANK YOU. You have taken the first step in rehoming a very deserving pet.
Jasper’s Utila Animal Rescue is a small, privately funded rescue, mainly run by volunteers transitioning to a public funded 501(c)3 charity. Much as we would like to, we don’t have the capacity to take care of every animal whose owners do not want to, or cannot, for one reason or another, care for them any longer. Because of this, our shelter has a no-kill policy and tries to find a home for every animal in need that comes through our door. Some of them live at our shelter and others are fostered until they can find their forever home.
There are not enough homes for all the animals that are born on our planet every year. Each year, 8 to 12 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are euthanized all over the world because there are simply not enough homes for them. 6–8 million animals end up in shelters and rescues all over the world each year, half of which will probably not be adopted. By adopting from Jasper’s Animal Rescue, you can make a difference for that dog and the next dog we are able to take in because a space has opened up

Before 2017 Utila had no animal rescue and the street dogs were a big problem. Since Allison created Jasper's we have been able to make a huge impact on the island and the dogs roaming the streets. We have had hundreds of adoptions over the years and have done countless spays and neuters. The sad reality is we see animal neglect and abuse on a daily basis. We are dedicated to fighting for the welfare of the animals on the island and will never stop being the voice that they don't have.
Our focus is finding homes for the 30 plus dogs we currently have at the shelter and making space to take new dogs in need. We strive to control the animal population by spaying and neutering animals and with community outreach and education.
We are dedicated to the medical care and treatment of any animal in need on the island.
