HELPING ANIMALS IN NEED IS OUR PASSION

Founder's Vision

I came to Utila in 2015 and quickly saw that there were many street dogs that were in need of help. I was walking everywhere on the island and felt compelled to bring food to the dogs. I then discovered that they were in need of meds and treatment and began sending dogs for medical care. The island had no vet or animal rescue so the vision began to take shape after I took in many dogs to my own home. There were several other people on the island that wanted a safe place for street dogs to be taken care of so we teamed up to create Jasper's Utila Animal Rescue from the ground up. I have always had a passion for animals and never wanted to see an animal suffer. Now my life is dedicated to keeping the animals on Utila safe by creating a NO KILL shelter and to find as many homes as possible as well as keeping the animal population under control and providing medical care to any animal in need.

-Allison Frey, Founder and CEO

Jasper's Story

The vision for Jasper's began in honor of a very special dog called, you guessed it, Jasper. Jasper was a rescue that belonged to Allison's best friend and he as well known and beloved on Utila. He tragically died of cancer but his memory lives on with the vision of saving dogs and cats. Jasper's Utila Animal Rescue's vision is to compassionately care for the island's dogs and cats by addressing the challenges of overpopulation, health, and well-being through proactive and sustainable initiatives

Our Goals

Not-for-Profit Status

Jasper's has been a privately funded not-for-profit organization since 2017. We have now received 501(c)3 status (EIN 61-2103023) and are moving towards becoming a publicly funded charity to keep the mission moving forward towards the wellbeing of animals in Utila.
